How about Home of Les Majeste?

Limited choice vote

In line with several other trends in Abhisit Vejjajiva's Thailand, the government is offering citizens a limited choice while trumpeting this as participation.

Abhisit kicked off a campaign on how "they want the government to promote internationally." PPT assumes this means that the government is well aware that its international reputation has declined.

We immediately thought of several ideas related to authoritarianism and repression and decided on "Thailand: Home of lese majeste." Then we found there are just 4 choices:

- Thailand as a country of open-minded people with a positive attitude.

- Thailand as a country with local wisdom that is still open to the world.

- Thailand as the place where business, culture and nature converge into one destination.

- Thailand as a hub for investment and exemplary service.

None of those rings any advertising bell….

Voting has begun and goes to 24 September. Full details are atThailandBranding.org. But because the choices are limited, there's not much opportunity for PPT readers to creatively undermine the government's lack of imagination. Limiting and directing voting choice   seems to fit the Abhisit regime well.
